Ring Top

Here are pencils with rings on the end, good for hanging by the telephone —

It’s an interesting coincidence that one is called Saturne, while another is made by Saturn, a German pencil company.

And some larger ones —

Oh – wow! Love the pencils in this post especially the Brevillier & Urban’s Telephone set.

  2. Yes, I agree, this make a really nice display all together like that. And again, I’ve never seen any of these before. Love the three larger ones, especially. Do you happen to remember where / how you came by them?

    • I seem to recall that the middle large Dixon was part of a set, maybe for the 1927 100th anniversary. If that’s the case, it’s kind of a shame that I split it up.

  3. Nice post! It’s always fun to see unusual pencils like these Ring Top units. I’m trying to imagine what these pencils would like installed today. Today’s phone booth would be a like a privacy closet where you could use your cellphone in peace. No pay phone today! The entire inside surface of the booth would be designed to be written on and then removed in thin layers to take with you. Addresses, times, flight plan changes, etc. A whole new art form would be born: phone booth decorators at night!
